Smooth Sailing Through Security: Your Guide to Airport Options!

Greetings Wanderers!

Today I wanted to dive right in and talk about airports.

Lately, security lines have been incredibly long, causing quite a travel headache. That’s why I recommend heading to the airport even earlier than you might have planned. There are a few options to help you navigate the airport more smoothly, and I often get questions about them: TSA PreCheck, Clear, Mobile Passport, and Global Entry. But which one is right for you? Look no further than this quick and easy guide!

TSA PreCheck
For just $85, you can enjoy five years of expedited security screening at over 200 airports. Skip the long lines and keep your shoes on! It is important to note that these lines have been getting increasingly longer (I waited 30 minutes at CLE in 2024 compared to 5 minutes last year), so keep that in mind. Children under 17 also receive access when traveling with a parent or guardian with a membership. Check if your credit card offers a discount on this service. Would information about travel credit cards and points be useful? Let me know!

Global Entry
For international travelers, Global Entry is a game-changer. At $100 for five years, it includes all the benefits of TSA PreCheck, plus expedited customs processing when returning to the U.S. Global Entry members can skip the long immigration lines and use a kiosk to re-enter the country quickly. It's a fantastic option for those who frequently travel abroad and want to streamline both their domestic and international airport experiences.

Clear
At $189 per year, Clear uses biometric screening to get you through security in minutes. It's perfect for frequent flyers who value their time.

Mobile Passport
This free app allows you to bypass the regular customs line at 30+ U.S. airports and cruise ports. Simply download and go. Typically, I will fill out the security form via the app once I am in the line.

Knowing the differences and choosing the right option can save you time and stress, making your travel experience much more enjoyable. Feel free to reach out with additional questions!
