Postcards From Rome

Greetings, Wanderers!

Today we are traveling back to 2022, to revisit one of my favorite destinations (and top one booked), Rome.

In my “Postcards” series, I give you a quick why, where, and what to do. So let’s dive right in!

Why Visit?

As one of the most iconic cities in the world, Rome offers an unmatched blend of ancient history, breathtaking architecture, world-class art, and mouthwatering cuisine. From the grandeur of the Colosseum to the vibrant energy of its piazzas, every corner of the city tells a story. Whether you’re drawn by its rich history, delectable food, or simply the charm of its people, Rome is the ultimate starting point for any Italian adventure.

Where to Stay:

Baglioni Hotel Regina has a prized location on Via Veneto. The hotel was built in 1892 and named for Queen Margherita of Savoy. Make sure to marvel at the queen's turn-of-the-century bronze and marble staircase. This hotel combines the elegance of bygone eras with thoroughly modern conveniences; the 116 lavish rooms and the Roman Penthouse Suite are decorated in traditional and sleek art deco style with authentic details. Be sure to stop by the wellness area, an urban retreat with a spa and fitness center. Brunello Bar and Restaurant presents an ambiance for enjoying tasty and refined Italian cuisine.

Insider Tip:

While most visitors admire the beauty of the Trevi Fountain from above, few know about the hidden treasures below. By booking a visit to the underground ruins of Vicus Caprarius, also known as the City of Water, you can explore the ancient Roman aqueducts and artifacts that once supplied water to the fountain. It's a unique way to uncover the layers of history beneath one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks!

What to Do

When it comes to exploring Rome, I highly recommend starting with guided tours of the Colosseum and the Vatican. These iconic landmarks are filled with history and intricate details that are best appreciated with expert insights—ensuring you don't miss a single moment.

For a taste of local culture, consider joining a pasta-making demonstration, where you can learn to craft authentic Italian dishes.

Further recommendations: The Villa Borghese offers a tranquil escape with its lush gardens and impressive art collections, while the Pyramid of Cestius presents a fascinating glimpse into ancient Rome’s blend of cultures. Don’t miss the Villa Medici, a historic gem with stunning views and artistic heritage, and the Roman Crypts, which offer a unique and hauntingly beautiful perspective on Rome’s layered history.

With so much to see and do, Rome can always bring something new to your adventure. At Clemente Travels, I curate a custom experience for your time in Italy, so head to the Book Now section for a 1:1 consultation to discuss future plans.
