Postcards From: Milos, Greece

Hello from Milos!

Greetings from the Greek Islands, or at least in spirit! Dan and I have officially kicked off the countdown to our return in September (and yes, there are a few spots left if you're tempted to join us). Today, I'm thrilled to share the ins and outs of one of my favorite Greek Islands: Milos.

Why Visit:

Nestled in the Cyclades southeast of mainland Greece, Milos beckons as a semi-off-the-beaten-path gem. Close to Paros, Naxos, and Santorini, this island is a haven for nature lovers and couples seeking tranquility. Often compared to Mykonos from a couple of decades ago, Milos is gaining fame for its Instagrammable beaches like Sarakiniko and Tsigrado. While its popularity is rising, now is the time to relish the less crowded spaces adorned with local eateries and charming shops.

What to Do:

Embrace the laid-back island life by renting an ATV to explore Milos. With only a few main roads, navigation is a breeze, and an ATV allows for easy beach hopping. The less touristy vibe invites adventurous souls to discover all the hidden beaches the island has to offer. It’s recommended drivers avoid the west side's rugged terrain, as the roads are not suitable here, so opt for a sailing cruise to unveil scenic spots such as Kleftiko Bay and Gerakas Beach.

Lastly, leave ample time for indulging in Milos' culinary delights. From the famed Oh! Hamos! to the seaside charm of Medusa and the authentic flavors of Avli-Milos, the island boasts some of the finest Greek cuisine we’ve tried.

Where to Stay:

Immerse yourself in the enchanting White Pebble Suites, a boutique hotel that captures hearts and rejuvenates souls. With romantic poolside dining and wellness therapies utilizing local ingredients and ancient wisdom, this retreat offers an intimate escape. Each of the 12 rooms features a terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea. Opt for the honeymoon suite for a private plunge pool with stunning views of Pollonia and the golden cliffs of Kimolos. The tranquility, coziness, and exceptional staff make it a standout choice.

When to Visit?

If you’re wondering the best time to visit Greece, consider the true "shoulder season" in April (with some closures possible), May, September, or early October. June through August marks the peak summer months, so for a more serene experience, the shoulder months are ideal. Given Milos' smaller year-round population compared to its neighbors, Clemente Travels can help secure the perfect dates for your getaway. Whether you're planning a relaxing week or a short stop, Milos promises diverse options with welcoming locals, creating the perfect Greek escape.

One last note, our newsletter, "The Wanderers," is live and operational, so ensure you're signed up to receive updates on travel updates, blog post releases, and exclusive insider tips.
