Postcards From Athens

Hello, Wanderers!

Back from my second trip to Greece, I’ll be launching a new series “Postcards” where I give you a quick why, where, and what to do. Today, you guessed it: we are showcasing Athens, so let’s dive right in!

Why Visit?

From the nightlife and festivals in Thessaloniki to the monasteries in Meteora, to the Acropolis in Athens: Greece has it all (and that is just the mainland!) Then add the spark and culture you get on any of the 227 (inhabited) islands, and you’ll be hooked. So why visit Greece? If the first bit hasn’t sparked your interest, consider the warming hospitality and delicious Mediterranean cuisine as additional bonuses.

Where to Stay

While in Athens, the Hotel Grande Bretagne poses a lovely historical feel and central location. It is within walking distance of the Acropolis, but for those of you who want to stay in, their rooftop restaurant can not be missed!

Insider Tip: Take a winetasting class with the hotel's sommelier, exploring a map of each region from which the Greek wines originated. –Carissa Gulyas Trumbull, Connecticut

What to Do

While exploring the historic sites of Athens, consider going on a food tour or taking a leisurely stroll through The National Gardens. For those seeking unique experiences, the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion provides a charming sunset view with a romantic ambiance. Moreover, if you're short on time, you can also maximize your Greece visit by taking a boat trip to one of the nearby islands. This remarkable city offers an abundance of choices.

With so much to see and do, Athens can always bring something new to your adventure. At Clemente Travels, we can curate a custom experience for your time in Greece, so head to the Book Now section for a 1:1 consultation to discuss further plans.

Did you know we are planning a group trip to Greece in September 2024? Head to the Join Us tab for further information. Spaces are filling up quickly, so reserve yours as soon as possible!
